Remembering the people

Please suggest some technology that might help ... but remind me who you are first.

What do you use to keep track of everyone that you work with, live near, party with, study with, or just share time with?

Mere humans can only maintain about 150 close relationships (Dunbar's number) so just wondering how to keep track of everyone.

Between phone, email, work, family, friends there must be over a 1000. It is really useful having a wife since when you both go out together you can quickly and easily compare notes on people and it increases the chance of one of you recognising someone.

Focus might be the solution. Only really engage with the people that are the most important to you and that help you achieve what you want to do in life. The problem is you have to then start saying no to things or preferring some people over others. How do you choose?

If not focus then what? There must be some better tools for it?

I've kept a journal for many years but it is not the easiest way of keeping track of people. Once you know who they are you can look up what you've done or said before but it doesn't help navigate your herd.
