I'm sure candidates already feel that they have been processed by some machine. In medical school applications even the humans undertaking the selection feel that they are been standardized to the point of being a machine with fixed interview questions.

There is certainly scope for this type of automation but the complexity of identifying who is best suited to a particular education programme is such that I'd wager it will (at first) only fulfil the shorter term goals of the institutions not the ultimate lifetime needs of the students applying.
